During this session we will discuss how employers can be proactive participants in assessing and understanding the variation in network offerings from their health plan partners. The dynamic between benefit design and network access is changing. The development of more narrow and high performing networks, bundled payment paradigms, and centers on excellence all contribute to this change. Employers must understand their population health needs to ensure that the networks and programs they offer align with the healthcare delivery and access needs of their insured population. Having insightful and actionable data is key to this understanding.

Understanding a population’s health is an important component across these decisions. We will discuss and share a number approaches to evaluate the needs of a population including factors such as but not limited to age, geography, job, and burden of illness. This will help ensure an informed approach as employers as design their benefit offerings

In this session you will:

  • Learn techniques for using population health data to inform benefit design decisions
  • Develop strategies for working collaboratively with health plan partners on member access and network decisions
