A high percentage of employees view all of the information that is given to them at open enrollment as “The Tower of Benefit Misery.” As employers we should take offense to that – it’s too expensive and too important. It’s time to ask ourselves, “why”? Most employers have given up on achieving lofty outcomes such as having appreciative and educated employees who clearly understand the overall value of the comprehensive and expensive benefits package that you provide. Affordability is where the focus is now. Considering how much money employers spend to offer a “competitive” benefits package they should be able to expect substantial outcomes for the investment.
